Earlier today, Trey Wingo sparked controversy by suggesting that Aaron Rodgers is on his way to the Jets. And indeed, we’ve heard similar rumors.

However, as Monday gives way to Tuesday, there is still no official announcement about Rodgers’ plans for 2023.

While we continue to hear that Rodgers intends to be traded to New York, we know from experience that nothing is final until it’s actually final.

Perhaps it’s as simple as Rodgers using his significant influence over the Jets (who are eager to have him) and the Packers (who are eager to unload him) to ensure that no one spills the beans until he gives the okay.

So what’s going to happen? Rodgers can’t continue to act as if he hasn’t made up his mind. By Wednesday, when the new league year starts and his hefty 2023 contract is officially on the Green Bay books, he’ll need to have made a decision.

We can expect something to happen tomorrow or Wednesday. Until then, it appears that Mr. Rodgers has mandated that he’ll be the only one to control information about where he’ll be living in 2023.

His options appear to be limited to the Jets or retirement, unless he’s willing to endure the awkwardness of returning to Green Bay. However, given that retiring would cost him almost $60 million and make him a mere “special guest star” at Tom Brady’s Hall of Fame induction weekend, it wouldn’t be surprising if Rodgers becomes an official member of the Jets by the middle of the week.
